Position Reports To: Coordinator of Speech & Language Services
The Clinical Fellow – Speech & Language Services works under the supervision of the Coordinator of Speech & Language Services and the Executive Director of The Global Center for Autism Services (GCAS). The Clinical Fellow – Speech & Language Services, under the direction and guidance of the Coordinator of Speech & Language Services, administers evaluations; designs and carries out treatment plans and participates as a member of a treatment team to facilitate service delivery for patients in the center as well as in-home. The Clinical Fellow – Speech & Language Services. The Clinical Fellow – Speech & Language Services must demonstrate positive and productive interpersonal skills on a consistent basis with outpatient clinical personnel, patients, families and public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The Clinical Fellow – Speech & Language Services must have a master’s or doctoral degree and be eligible to complete supervision hours towards obtaining a certificate of clinical competence issued by the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
Required Length and Type of Experience
Specific expertise in dealing with infants, children, and adolescents with autism and related disorders is preferred, but not required. The Clinical Fellow – Speech & Language Services must possess a basic understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry
Eligibility for completion of clinical supervision hours toward obtaining full Maryland licensure within Speech/Language Therapy. Eligible to obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting students, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination, physically able to manage students of varying weight and sizes. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide speech language services to patients including: evaluations for candidacy to utilize augmentative systems; establishing behavioral, objective, and measurable goals for, and review/revise treatment plans; modify treatment program as indicated by patient’s progress and team recommendations; regularly assess the adequacy of each patient’s prescribed speech and language program; participate in transition plans; and assess the need for further testing.
- Assist Coordinator of Speech & Language Services in coordinating communication with referrals and outside agencies.
- Assist Coordinator of Speech & Language Services in educating all clinical ABA staff on communication topics including augmentative/alternative communication, apraxia, sign language and other related topics.
- Assist Coordinator of Speech & Language Services in providing consultation services to BCBA’s and Clinical ABA therapists in the area of speech and language development, assessment, intervention and individual program design.
- Ensure that all reports and documentation are completed thoroughly and within given deadlines.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
